THE DURAN'S HI-TECH MUGS HIT BY RUSSIA SANCTIONS

Can Russia keep producing hi-tech mugs like these without Taiwanese chips?

Top Putin-shilling YouTube channel The Duran is reported to be the latest victim of Western sanctions, after Taiwan threatened to cut off the supply of microchips needed to produce the hi-tech mugs sold by the site to raise funds.

As shown in this video from a disappointed customer, the mugs, which retail for around $20 (postage and package not included), miraculously change colour from Kremlin black when filled with a hot liquid, and then show an "evil smiling" picture of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

However, the technology used to produce this stunning digital effect is heavily dependent on semiconductor chips sourced from MTSC, the world's largest producer of small fiddly gizmos.

Ho Lee Fuk, the company's Director of Media Relations, issued a statement on Wednesday, claiming that the company did not know that the chips were being misused by shameless Putin shills to promote extremely low-tech takes -- like "India and China are buying up all of Russia's gas and oil" and "HIMARs are generally ineffective, except when they're killing thousands of Russian soldiers," etc.
