Still recovering from its "Holiday Season" hangover, the World remained largely unmoved as "news" filtered in that an unimportant American village had caught fire.
The village, which is called "La" or "Elay" (opinions vary), is believed to be located near a giant carpark and marijuana farm in the rustic Westerly state of California, known mainly for its agricultural produce.
Some of the simple, Spanish-speaking inhabitants have been relocated by the largely amateur "fire-fighting force" to other areas that may or not be combustible.
The story of the petty conflagration is struggling to compete with other trivial news items in news cycles, such as reports of a deranged, old boomer smearing his face with marmalade and yelling about "invading Greenland" and a confused, "heavily autistic" man who tweets a lot.
According to news experts, 2025 is still waiting for its first real news story to happen.
