THE CRUCIFIXION OF THE MAGA BLOB

What a time to be alive! We are about to see something truly remarkable in a few days' time. There are different ways to conceptualise it. The way I see it is that the American body politic will finally generate some serious antibodies to fight against the weird pathogen that has been injected into it. 

Whatever Trump is, he is not and has never been a legitimate part of the American political system. He has always been something alien and malign to that entity. Whether one cares for the US political system or not—and I have mixed feelings—the Trump virus, or the Trump cancer, is clearly at odds with that. 

In its essence, imperfectly reflected in its practice, the American system is individualistic, meritocratic, rules-based, and globalist. It attempts to merge the free trade of the world with its geopolitically-inflected monetary system to its own advantage and the general advantage of the rest of us, including societies that loathe and despise it. To pull this off it needs law courts, regulated markets, sympathetic allies, and functioning international structures—the most important ones of which it played a central role in creating (NATO, the UN, the World Bank, etc.). 

Trump in his three-part career has been the antithesis of that—a corrupt, nepotistic, authoritarian, bribe taker of the worst sort—and has drawn strength from the capacious underbelly of American society, combined with malevolent outside forces who have stopped at nothing to hack into the system for their own nefarious ends.

This underbelly includes isolationists ("Little Americaners"), relative economic losers who have nevertheless benefited from the general system, and the emotional and psychological detritus of all that rampant individualism. The malevolent outside forces have included the Russians and the Zionists, each with their own dark agendas determined by the twisted geopolitical forces that fuel them. 

Trump has used these subterranean forces and served these external masters by, wittingly or unwittingly, doing everything in his power to oppose the American ethos. Now the system is at long last waking up to create an antithesis to Trump in the guise of a resurgent Democrat Party.

Most of these are mentally tied to an older paradigm of politics and so only blindly grasp the significance of what is going on. But the real battle is upon us. Once the results of the Midterm elections are declared, Trump will look older, weaker, and more isolated than ever, and the rats will start to jump the ship. Meanwhile the forces rising to expunge this pathogen will draw strength from their enhanced numbers and increasing awareness of the entity they are opposed to—and the heads will start to roll.

There is of course every possibility that the disease will flare up one last time as it feels its powers ebbing, and there is still a lot of damage and scar tissue that can be created. But my guess is that any flare-up will only hasten the end and lead to a process of strong healing, hopefully followed by a rebalancing of factors.

Important in this will be how the poisonous influences of states like Israel and Russia, and nefarious impact of individuals and corporations, like the broligarchs and their companies, are brought to heel. Without that expect new fevers, plagues and worse.
