Back in 1985 or whenever it was, pop singer Sting did a song about how the Russians didn't like war either, because they "loved their kids too," just like people in the West.
In fact, the former frontman for "The Police" even ripped off a bit of Prokofiev and penned some sappy lyrics, and even got a hit from it all, singing lines like:
In fact, the former frontman for "The Police" even ripped off a bit of Prokofiev and penned some sappy lyrics, and even got a hit from it all, singing lines like:
Mr. Reagan says we will protect youI don’t subscribe to this point of viewBelieve me when I say to youI hope the Russians love their children too
The whole point of the song was that nuclear war was bad (duh!) and that Russian are "caring, feeling human beings," just like people in the West, who don't want their children to be fried to a crisp in Armageddon!
The lyrics of this 1985 pop song couldn't be more wrong
He "kinda sorta" got away with this garbage, because Russia at the time was, by some weird fluke, temporarily ruled over by a rather decent dude called Mikhail Gorbachev, instead of some genocidal maniac, like it normally is. "Gorby" thought that war sucked, especially if you were Russian, probably because they are so crap at it.
However, the latest figures out of the Ukraine, showing hundreds of thousands of Russian corpses and nearly a million in total causalities, suggest that Mr. Sting was way off the mark with his dumb lyrics:
These show that the Russians clearly don't give a single flying fuck about their "nearest and dearest," and would probably prefer to see them all turned into hamburger meat at the nearest possible opportunity, just so Putin could claim that he is "de-Nazifying" the Ukraine and they could get an increased gruel ration.
Sting looks a bit like Richard Spencer. However, Sting had musical talent whereas Spencer is a loser and a disappointment to his family.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with selling your country's future to preserve your corrupt regime. Just ask the Kims, they did that decades ago and now they get free food.
