CORPSE RE-ELECTED IN PENNSYLVANIA

In US elections you often hear about the dead voting; you don't hear so much about them being elected. But, yes, that happens too, including in the recent Midterms, in which a dead Democrat candidate was returned to the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. 

As reported by The Blaze:

A deceased Democratic official won reelection in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Yes, really.

Democrat Tony DeLuca was the longest-serving member of the Pennsylvania state House of Representatives, serving for nearly 40 years. He died last month at age 85 after battling lymphoma.

But that did not stop voters from reelecting him.

In fact, DeLuca dominated his challenger, Queonia "Zarah" Livingston of the Green Party, by more than 70 points. With more than 95% of the vote counted, DeLuca won with 86% of the vote compared to Livingston's 14%.

Unfortunately for lovers of dark humour, DeLuca's mouldering corpse won't be propped up in the State House for the next four years as a grim reminder of the futility of electoral politics. Instead, the will of the voters will be defied by holding a special additional election to ensure that someone with a pulse will take his seat. Pity!
