MORON TRUMP HANDS VICTORY TO LIBERALS IN CANADIAN ELECTION

Donald Trump interfering in the Canadian election

The Liberal Party, which has overseen Canada's economic stagnation despite importing 5 million immigrants over the last ten years, and was rightfully doomed to destruction at the ballot box only a few months ago, has surprisingly won the Canadian election -- all thanks to some idiotic comments by Donald Trump.

The astounding recovery in Liberal Party fortunes and the equally unprecedented plummet in the fortunes of Canada's Conservative Party all happened because Trump, like a senile old fucker, referred to Canada as the "51st State of America" and addressed the previous Canadian Prime Minister as "Governor Trudeau," in addition to attempting to trash the Canadian economy with shitty tariffs.

The moves to attack Canada apparently had maximum negative impact on Canada's boomers, who reacted strongly by swinging Left to support the "tough guy" Liberal candidate Mark Carney, who successfully branded himself as a no-nonsense "elbows up" crisis management type. This made him more appealing to voters than his Conservative rival
Pierre Poilievre, who remained tarnished by association with a Trump-like "populist" style of politics. Poilievre is actually projected to lose his seat.

This is just the latest example of Trump's total stupidity, incompetence, and narcissistic ass-holish nature, and yet more evidence that he is toxic for right-leaning politics both in America and around the world.

SOYBEARD-WEARING TURBANED FREAK HUNTED DOWN AND KILLED ON THE COLD HEARTLESS PLAINS OF EURASIA

Fan of the “Soy-viet Union,” Michael Alexander Gloss RIP

In the latest heart-breaking tragedy to emerge from the shapelessness of the Eurasian land mass, an innocent soybeard-wearing turbaned freak has been cruelly hunted down and killed on the cold heartless plains of Eurasia by a 14-year-old Ukrainian kid with a modified game console operating a drone.

Instead of being a convict or the scrapings of Russia's alcohol-sodden ethnic villages, brutally forced into endless "meatwave" warfare, the turbaned freak was not only a willing American volunteer but also the son of a top-ranking member of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Julianne Gallina Gloss.

The son of CIA-royalty was apparently hunted down and slotted by a large metal mosquito back in April last year.

It is not clear what attracted the soy-beard-wearing freak to the wide-open, borderless killing zone that is like Xmas every day of the week for drones, but one theory is that it had "mommy issues" and wanted to "define itself" by fighting for "one of mommy's enemy countries" for "shits and giggles."

The irony, however, is that the by the time the story broke, America had switched sides and was fully supporting the Kremlin in its shitty three-year war.

This is not the first time that the formlessness of the Eurasian plain has been involved in the unfortunate killing of a geographically illiterate person, nor will it be the last.

HOW WILL MAGA FALL APART?

It is already obvious that MAGA has nothing to say of any substance, has hit a brick wall of economic reality, is deeply discredited, and is being held together solely by the rapidly corroding capstone of its aging and increasingly mentally deficient leader. It is also obvious that it must collapse in some way. But when and how remain open questions.

There are a number of factors to bear in mind when considering these questions. Firstly, the official Democrat opposition is weak and even more discredited due to its long flirtation with "the Woke," and secondly Trump has established something of a stranglehold on the GOP with his ability to "primary" opponents in the party.

This power is based on his fanatical and dumb supporters, who will reliably turn out in typically low-turn-out primary elections, giving them disproportionate leverage to shoot down any Republican rivals, combined with the giant political slush funds now at Trump's command. This is due to Trump’s billionaire friends, of whom Elon Musk is but one, as well as the money now under Trump's own control from the unprecedented corruption of the MAGA regime.

These factors mean that MAGA is not as brittle and weak as it should be.

To overturn MAGA we need to see several interlocking trends.

(1) The return of a relatively credible Democrat Party
(2) Trump's further decline in the polls
(3) GOP donors deserting Trump

But there are clear signs that all these are happening.

The Dems realise that being seen as too woke was a major mistake and that making Harris their candidate in 2024 just opened them up to this attack. Now most of the candidates being talked about as leadership figures -- Buttigieg, Pritzker, Walz, Shapiro, Newsome -- fit the category of being "stale, male, and pale" instead of "brat" (whatever that meant). This signals a clear departure from overly woke posturing.

Also, Trump's plummeting popularity is a thing. This is important because the more Trump falls in the polls the more Republicans will stand up to him. Being "primary-ed" is not even a threat if you're sure to lose the actual election after the primary.

Then there are the GOP donors. There is clear evidence that many of these are cooling in their enthusiasm for Trump after his mishandling of the economy, and are now backing away. As for Musk, he is apparently getting ready to quit politics after his various disasters.

This rapidly changing picture means that any Trump moves that relied on 100% GOP backing in Congress and Senate can now be defeated by a few defectors who will gain increasing financial support. Suddenly, almost everything that Trump wished to do and could get done when his approval rating was over 50% is open to challenge and stagnation.

The result of this is that we are now fast approaching the point where anything "controversial" by Trump will simply get bogged down or overturned, whether by the Supreme Court or by defections in Congress and the Senate.

This situation will also see a sharp rise in legal challenges to almost everything "controversial" that Trump has already done, such as DOGE, deportations using "war powers," and even his ability to switch tariffs on and off like a child playing with a light.

The irony here is that as MAGA weakens and faces more legal and political “override,” it will actually start behaving more like a normative Republican government, and therefore start performing better, slowing down its descent into incompetence and blatant corruption.

However, even in gelded form, Trump is almost certain to remain a major problem, and will continue to disgrace himself and his party. A lot of this stems from his narcissism and psychological shortcomings, but lets also throw in rapid aging. As the Midterms approach more and more Republicans will view him as a lame-duck and a liability, with at least some of them distancing themselves from him more openly.

So, how exactly will Trumpism finally implode?

My guess is that one of the main Republicans who will split from Trump will be JD Vance, someone who famously loathed Trump and probably still does, but who did a complete U-turn purely for the sake of cynical political ambition.

As Trump's popularity plummets, the incentives for Vance to keep his political future alive by splitting from Trump increase, and will be increasing rapidly in the weeks and months ahead. Vance cannot be fired by Trump because the VP is a constitutional officer with a fixed term of four years, and can only be removed by Congress impeaching him.

Any open break from Trump, however, puts Vance in a dangerous position himself, as Trump loyalists in Congress can combine with Democrats seeking a scalp to impeach Vance.

In order to avoid this, Vance, before making an open breach with Trump, would need to have enough support from other Republicans ready to ditch Trump and even some Democrats.

With Trump driving down GOP poll numbers, this is not as unlikely as it seems. If a "treacherous" Vance backed by a splinter group of Republicans, keen to save themselves at the polls, got together with Dems, an impeachment might be in the offing for Trump himself.

This could even happen before the midterms or shortly after, when Republican minds had been even more concentrated by serious Trump-inflicted reverses. Unlike Joe Biden, a senile Donald Trump is not going to quietly quit for the good of the party; he will have to be carried out, kicking and screaming. The plotting has probably already begun.

VANCE "KILLS" POPE FOR NOT WEARING SUIT AND NOT BUYING ENOUGH AMERICAN SHIT

An artist's reconstruction of the deadly encounter

Breaking News. It looks like U.S. Vice President JD Vance may have "killed" Pope Francis, after the pontiff refused to wear a suit at their recent meeting at the Vatican.

During the tense meeting, an enraged Vance reportedly berated the ailing Catholic leader for several hours for his choice of clothing, a "disrespectful" white dress with a cross-like implement worn around his neck.

Vance is highly autistic and gets deeply upset if fellow world leaders refuse to wear ties or marry Indian women, but this time trade tensions are believed to have played a key role, with Vance insisting that the Vatican buy more Boeing jets and F-35s with which to attack fellow micro states San Marino and Andorra, in return for all the surplices, holy relics, and statuettes of the Virgin Mary that the US imports from the Vatican.

The method used by Vance to cause the death of the previously healthy Pope is still unknown because security cameras were mysteriously "switched off" just before the fatal encounter.

One theory is that Vance used his thick black eye-liner to focus a "death ray" of pure malice and vile, putrid resentment to overpower the Pope's faltering life force, and then used the bleak yawning chasm of evil in his heartless void to suck out Pope Francis's tortured soul, leaving only a crumpled shell on the papal carpet for members of the Swiss Guard to find, as he made his escape.

The daring attack on one of the World's top spiritual leaders has been compared to Liz Truss's 2022 ruthless "slaying" of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, during a visit to Balmoral.

TATTOOED THUG DEPORTED TO EL SALVADOR GULAG, SUPREME COURT STRANGELY SILENT

Concerns have been raised by absolutely no one after a tattooed thug with a serious drink problem was deported to a fascist-run gulag in Central America.

The thug, who is thought to be a member of the notorious "Deus Vult" gang, was rounded up during an operation in the Washington DC area, and immediately deported to a giant prison complex in the jungles of El Salvador, where he will be retrained using electric shock treatment to do socially useful work for the first time in his life.

Recently, the US Supreme Court has challenged the Trump administration's attempt to clean filth like this from America's crime-infested streets, but in this case they were strangely reticent, perhaps because the thug, known only by his gang name of "Whiskeyleaks," is regarded as "one very bad hombre" in the words of US President and "El Supremo" Donald Trump.

WHY AMERICA CAN'T AFFORD TO ATTACK IRAN

Due to the incompetence with which the Trump administration has tried to impose tariffs, the World economy is somewhat shaky at the moment, and can probably do without any more shocks for a time.

Such a shock would be a war against Iran. This is not unlikely, as the Trump administration seems to be characterised by dumb leadership, but it would certainly be a mistake.

The reason for this is that any war with Iran would essentially be "unprovoked." Sure, you can always find "bad things" that any country has done, but to the wider World, Iran is relatively "innocent" and certainly hasn't done anything to justify an attack by a superpower.

Because of the "unprovoked" nature of any such an attack, America would go into the war morally weak and without allies (except for Israel, of course), and this would strengthen resistance and undercut resolve, leading to a situation without any clear result.

The effect of this, however, would be to create a toxic situation right at the point where around 20 to 30% of the world's oil supply sails out into the World. An unresolved war in Iran would effectively close this off for months, leading to a spike in oil prices on a par with the 1970s "Oil Shock" when OPEC embargoed countries supporting Israel during the Yom Kippur War. Back then that quadrupled the price of oil.

We have already seen a "practice run" of this kind of situation with the Houthis in Yemen and their ability to cause serious disruption to sea traffic in the Red Sea. Only a full invasion and occupation, or else a successful proxy war that placed a more compliant regime in power, can end this threat. Both of these seem a lot less likely than solving the problem by just doing a deal with the Houthis.

But a similar situation with Iran and the Straits of Hormuz would be 20 to 100 times worse.

Off the top of my head, Iran is around 10 times bigger than the Houthi-controlled territory, while the
Straits of Hormuz are at least twice as important as the Red Sea.

While there are alternative routes for shipping companies to avoid the Red Sea, there is no significant alternative for the 20 to 30% of the world's oil supply sails that passes through the Straits of Hormuz.

The key to fighting successful wars is having a clear end point and reaching it as effectively as possible. The Trump administration might decide that it has this in simply bombing the crap out of Iran's nuclear facilities. But that would only be a clean endpoint if the Iranians agreed with them.

Much more likely, the Iranian government would wish to cause some pain in return and interrupting the global oil supply would be the easiest way to do this. Also, Russian support for this would not be lacking, as $300 for a barrel of Russian crude oil would be an economic lifeline to the Putin regime.

Trump clearly has major obligations to his Zionist backers and wants to deliver results on weakening Iranian power, so the prospect of attacking Iran will continue to appeal to him. The problem is that without a clear endpoint any action against Iran is just going to add more to the global mess that Trump has already made with his unhinged tariffs.

While there remains a valid case for much of what Trump is attempting, the way in which he has set about his agenda is simply undermining it; while depressing support for the kind radical and populist solutions that many were drawn to out of a sense of frustration with mainstream politics.

WILL TRUMP PAY-OFF ZIONIST DONORS BY LAUNCHING MULTI-TRILLION-DOLLAR WAR WITH IRAN?

America's main heavy-hitter, the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber

The Trump regime is supposedly worried about nuclear proliferation and is in intense negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program.

This is all backed up by an ominous military build-up in its bases near the Middle East and Indian Ocean.

Surely, this is a joke, as everything else the Trump regime has done, like shitting on NATO and US defence commitments in Asia, has pushed a whole host of countries -- like Germany, Poland, Japan, and even Canada and Denmark -- to consider getting their own nuclear weapons.

Of course, the real reason Trump is "suddenly" so interested in nuclear proliferation has nothing to do with nuclear proliferation. It is because of donations by the pro-Zionist lobby.

Middle East Monitor's Track Aipac site estimates that Trump alone has received over $230 million in pro-Zionist spending since 2020, largely through Sheldon Adelson’s Preserve America PAC ($215 million) and the Republican Jewish Coalition ($14 million).

But that's just the stuff we know about. With such a totally corrupt shitbag like Trump, there is likely to be a lot more money passing under the table that we don't know about.

So, what do Zionist donors get for all this money?

More US military aid for Israel and diplomatic support for its borderline genocide in Gaza, obviously. But it seems that the deal might also include bombing Iran, going by the massive military build-up underway.

Newsweek has reported the following:

Over 70 C-17 cargo flights delivering U.S. Patriot air defense battalions from the Pacific to the Middle East to bolster milssile defenses against Iran or its proxies. The exact location of the Patriot battalion's deployment remains undisclosed.

A $1 billion THAAD battery deployed to Israel. This can intercept targets up to 124 miles away. Around 100 U.S. troops are stationed in Israel to operate it.

The US has deployed 6 or 7 B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to its airbase on the British-owned Diego Garcia island the Indian Ocean. This is one-third of the Air Force’s total B-2 fleet of 20 aircraft. These can drop GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs, weighing 30,000 pounds (13,600 kg), designed to destroy deeply buried targets like Iranian bunkers and nuclear research installations.

The forthcoming attack on Iran could also explain Trump's pro-Putinist behaviour. Iran is a long-standing ally of Russia, but Putin might be happy to allow Trump a free hand there in return for weakening NATO assistance to Ukraine. Putin would also benefit by the sharply spiking price of oil that such a war would cause.

The costs of such a war are incalculable, but a price tag in the trillions of dollars does not seem an excessive estimate for a conflict that would destabilise an already unsteady global economy.

TRUMP CAN'T BE A COMPLETE BASKET CASE, CAN HE?

Luke Ford bravely attempts to "add value" to his livestream by presenting am extreme "non-mainstream media" take on Trump's tariff shitstorm. Out there, amongst the economic carnage, the pointless uncertainty, the constant cucking to the bond market, and getting steamrolled by China is a sliver of hope that Trump had a point.

BITCHUTE BANNED IN THE UK

Bitchute the go-to-video-platform for crazy disinfo vids, conspiritard lunacy, and ads for "miracle cures," "love potions," "get rich quick schemes" and other garbage targetted at low-human-capital individuals, has been banned in the UK in line with a law passed by the previous Conservative government in 2023.

A statement issued by BitChute, addressed to its "valued users in the United Kingdom" said:

"After careful review and ongoing evaluation of the regulatory landscape in the United Kingdom, we regret to inform you that BitChute will be discontinuing its video sharing service for UK residents.

The introduction of the UK Online Safety Act of 2023 has brought about significant changes in the regulatory framework governing online content and community interactions. Notably, the Act contains sweeping provisions and onerous corrective measures with respect to content moderation and enforcement. In particular, the broad enforcement powers granted to the regulator of communication services, Ofcom, have raised concerns regarding the open-ended and unpredictable nature of regulatory compliance for our platform."

In the view of Neokrat, which also has a BitChute channel, this is not really a free speech issue. It is more a low-IQ people issue.

Basically, the UK government has decided that a significant enough portion of the UK population is too dumb for untrammelled access to a "free speech" platform with a wide range of unverified and potentially malicious actors.

Events, like last year's widespread riots sparked off by social media disinfo, have only strengthened the resolve to clamp down on the misuses to which social media (in conjunction with low IQ people) can be put.

This is not to say that there isn't excellent content on BitChute, but, really, how would the low human capital that make up much if not most of the channel's audience know that or be able to determine its validity over, say, some moronic anti-vax video claiming that the world is run by lizard people?

Note, the site can still be accessed from the UK via a VPN.

SHORTPOD (104) AMERICA IS NO LONGER THE WORLD'S GOLD

It’s hard to separate fact from fiction, feels from logic, and dreams from nightmares with such an erratic and incendiary President as Donald Trump at the helm. So, how are we to get a handle on the global economic shitstorm kicked off by the Trump tariffs? Macroeconomics is the answer.

ISRAEL ASKS IF IT CAN SHOOT ANOTHER 15 MEDICS, THIS TIME WITH THE LIGHTS OFF, IN ORDER TO GET ITS STORY STRAIGHT

Mobile phone footage directly contradicted the Israeli government's version of events

After being caught out lying about the deliberate massacre of 15 emergency workers in southern Gaza on 23 March, the Israeli government has asked if it could shoot another 15 Palestinian medics in order to get its story straight.

Initially, Israel claimed its troops opened fire on a convoy of ambulances because it approached "suspiciously in darkness without headlights or flashing lights."

However, mobile phone footage has since emerged, filmed by one of the paramedics who died, showing that the vehicles did in fact have their lights on as they answered a call to help wounded people.

Now the Israeli government has admitted they got it wrong.

"Sorry, we got our story wrong, as no one told us one of the emergency workers we killed would actually be filming the whole thing on his phone. Sorry!" a spokesman said.

Now the Israeli government has requested that another medical convoy be sent, this time with the lights switched off, to assist some more injured people so that they can finally get their story right by shooting them in the dark, using infrared night-vision goggles instead.

"We'd really hate for people to say we're a bunch of shameless liars, so it would greatly help us restore our shitty credibility if we could just butcher another 15 innocent people, but this time in the dark. Deal?"

TRUMP IS STRENGTHENING THE GLOBALIST SYSTEM

Rumours of globalism's death have been greatly exaggerated

My position on Trump and MAGA has been incredibly nuanced, considering the temptations I have had to develop full-blown Trump Derangement Syndrome. I honestly believe there is a core of ideas in MAGA that are, whether you agree with them or not, entirely respectable.

Tariffs can be bad sometimes and good sometimes. For example China's shipbuilding capacity is now around 200 times that of the United States. Tariffs should have been used for several decades past to ensure that such a strategic disparity never developed.

Likewise, US tariffs on Japanese semiconductors in the 1980s and 90s just moved that vital industry from a relatively easy-to-defend island to an extremely difficult-to-defend island -- and one that we have already all admitted is an integral part of China anyway.

The main distinction I make is between "Good MAGA" (i.e. sensible autarkic impulses and justifiable geopolitical disengagement) vs. "Bad MAGA," namely the clown show, slop politics, and increasingly unhinged mood swings and brittle whims of an aging sociopath and toxic narcissist already in the antechamber of death.

The problem, however, is that even though discerning individuals may be able to tell the two apart, the rest of the World will not.

The shitshow of "Bad MAGA," typified by the extreme, chaotic, and economically destructive way that the tariffs have been introduced, will stick to the more respectable core ideas of MAGA and make them just as toxic as Trump's increasingly corrupt and repellent behaviour and the cluster of sycophantic reptiles around him.

Make no mistake, what Trump is doing now and the way he is doing it will implode and, as I have predicted, he won't even be a one-term president this time. And when the wheels come off Trump's shambolic revolution, there will be a "correction," a counter-revolution, that will see America return in one form or another to its former pattern of globalism.

Trump's legacy will include higher military spending in Europe (at least until Putin collapses), the collapse of Euro-Populists associated with Trump, a bolstering of the EU project, the increasing isolation of Israel, which has foolishly used Trump's corruptibility and transitory power to engage in genocide (with a small "g")and a messy situation in East Asia (which could get very bad very quickly).

But his main legacy will be to toxify sensible MAGA ideas and strengthen belief, whether justified or unjustified, in the tenets of a globalist system.

AMERICA ASPIRES TO BE A NORMAL COUNTRY

Anime Trump introduces his economic panacea to the grateful American public.

There is a lot of heat and excitement right now about Trump's latest attention-grabbing move, namely imposing wide-ranging tariffs on the rest of the world, all backed up by a comprehensive "economic analysis" of who has supposedly been "screwing" America, when it is more probable that America that has been screwing the rest of the World for decades.

Essentially the so-called "Day of Liberation" is an attempt to create what I call "The People's Republic of MAGA," namely an economically autarkic and emotionally autistic state that lies at the heart of Trump's voting base.

Like the notion of a Zionist state in the 1890s, Dugin's "Eurasia" more recently, or even Richard Spencer's vague notion of the "ethnostate" before he got turned by the Feds, it is an idealistic concept that generates emotional and meme power, but which may face real problems in the real world.

In my view, none of these idealised fantasy states is ultimately workable, although clearly the Zionist project is making a reasonably decent fist of it at the moment.

"The People's Republic of MAGA" is also, I would guess, destined for failure. While MAGAism appeals to many Americans as an idealised or emotionalised concept, it is not quite so endearing as an economic reality.

But before going there, what exactly is the appeal of MAGAism and "The People's Republic of MAGA"? I think there are two main elements in it, namely America's centuries-long inferiority complex and the late-stage boomerism of many of the "MAGAtards."

MAGA Americans are essentially the most "inferior" people in the World. They instinctively sense their own crassness, lack of sophistication, and huck-like gullibility for any snake oil salesman or carnival barker. They are slop content personified, and they know it. America associating closely with innately superior civilisations like Japan or Europe "hurtz their feelz," a bit like the fat ugly girl in a beauty pageant. Thinking that foreigners are "decadent," "effete," "malign," etc. are all ways to cope with this, and has always been there in American culture.

Marjorie Taylor Green: scared of BBC reporters

Then there is late-stage boomerism.

Boomers are distinguished from all other generations in that they were the first and perhaps the only generation to be "generationally sovereign," that is to exist separately and for their own sakes. They also experienced extreme generational arrogance, as their sense of themselves as somehow "special" seemed to be echoed by the social, technological, political, and economic universes, which delivered more personal freedom, economic growth, gizmos, and economic and asset growth than ever before.

But the silver cloud had black lining. As the most spoilt and privileged generation, they did not transition too smoothly to the notion of aging and dying. They felt, more strongly than all preceding and less self-centred generations, that the universe had done them a great wrong.

A natural outcome of these casual factors is a sense of "victimisation" combined with a chest-thumping assertion of "muh greatness." This is essentially what Trump, the eternal boomer and quintessential unsophisticated American embodies, and it is easy to see his appeal to a vast segment of of his fellow Americans.

But the problem is simply whether "The People's Republic of MAGA" conforms to reality and can make a decent fist of it.

The idea of America being "economically autarkic" and "culturally autistic" is not necessarily bad in itself. Most countries are like this in the sense that they make much more of their own stuff (or at least pay for it with goods of an equal value that they do grow, mine, or make). They are also less culturally connected to the rest of the world than America is. This is mainly the effect of speaking their own unique languages, which filter out and distance much of the rest of the world.

America, by contrast, is sucked much more into a wider world it is uncomfortable with by speaking the language of its globalist British creators, something greatly exacerbated by the information technology revolutions of the last 20 to 30 years.

The short version here is that much of America feels too connected -- culturally and economically -- to a world that makes it feel uncomfortable, and craves less connection. That is the meaning of MAGA and Trump.

Being the centre of a global interconnected world is not for everyone. In fact, it is for a relatively narrow and select group of countries and cultures: Britain in its heyday, the French anytime, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Ancient Greeks, and maybe the Ottomans in the past, and possibly the Indians in the future.

Like the Americans, the Oriental nations are less enamoured of it and naturally incline towards the autarkic, although economically both Japan and China have, behind the walls of their inscrutable scripts, become pseudo-globalist nations.

As for America, while globalism has long been embraced by its coastal elites, the vast majority of its population has craved to eke out its humble existence in a relatively meek, backward, and secluded way.

The problem is that Trump's radical attempt to deliver this emotional "small America" vision is likely to cause too much economic pain to be workable. Despite itself, America is too drugged and addicted to globalism to effortlessly slough it off.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT LATIN AMERICAN CRYPTO FASCISM

The most recent personage in the seemingly never ending parade of “hey, remember that sketchy person you were paying attention to because of the sketchy crypto things they were doing? Well they’re in the news today because they’re involved in the Trump administration” that makes up my day to day life in 2025 is none other than El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele, the self described “world’s coolest dictator”.

Recently Bukele made the news when the Trump administration decided to go into America’s jails and detention centers, rustle up a few hundred[1] currently incarcerated people whom Donald Trump claims are members of a Venezuelan criminal gang named Tren de Aragua (but at least a few of whom seem to not be members of any gang, let alone Tren de Aragua), and ship them off to a new life in El Salvador’s new and truly dystopian CECOT mega prison. This seemed to surprise a lot of people, seeing as how American law says literally nothing about renting out space in violent foreign prisons to house people the American government does not like. It’s a subject on which the silence of American jurisprudence could reasonably be described as “deafening”.

What wasn’t silent, however, was the soundtrack to this expensive looking promo video the Trump administration and/or the Bukele team managed to put up within minutes of the deportees arrival. 21st century fascist aesthetics are wild.

Of course those of us who follow the real news - which is to say the miasma of clickbait, “alternative facts”, demagoguery, and Russian propaganda that makes up most Americans’ information diet these days - were not at all surprised[2]. The plan to rent out space in a violent Salvadoran mega prison to house the Trump administration’s enemies had been announced publicly by Bukele, Elon Musk, and Trump consigliere Stephen “Pee Wee German” Miller in early February.

I asked a generative AI model to produce an image of a dystopian Orwellian future and this is what it came up with.

The subject of why Bukele has built a mega prison and used it to terrorize a truly impressive percentage of the Salvadoran citizenry is a nuanced historical subject I don’t really have time for here but the short version is something like:

  1. In the 80s and early 90s El Salvador experienced an incredibly violent 13 year long civil war. The CIA’s role in that conflict is probably best described as “not helpful”.
  2. Many Salvadorans fled to America to escape that war.
  3. Some of those Salvadorans and/or their children, having limited economic opportunities, got involved in the drug trade, resulting in the rise of a legitimately terrifying gang called MS-13.
  4. During the course of America’s ongoing societal suicide mission that some call “The War On Drugs" a lot of those MS-13 members were deported back to El Salvador, a place many of them had never even been to before[3].
  5. So many violent criminals were sent into such a small and unstable country in such a short time span that El Salvador became one of the most dangerous countries in the entire world, leading the murders per capita charts for an impressive stretch.
  6. The voters of El Salvador cried out for a fascist strong man to come in and round up all the young men, human rights be damned. This resulted in an explosion of El Salvador’s prison population and a concomitant extremely dramatic increase in public safety.

Needless to say Nayib Bukele, despite being an unaccountable and deeply corrupt dictator, is wildly popular in his home country. Some polls I’ve seen put him as the single most popular democratically elected leader in the world. It’s a story that perhaps America’s Democratic party could learn a lot from the next time it’s considering setting border policy.

THE CRYPTO OF IT ALL

You may be blissfully unaware that Nayib Bukele, in addition to being a certifiable dictator and trampler of human rights, is also one of the world’s most famous crypto bros. If this collision of what purports to be a libertarian technology project (bitcoin) with outright fascism (Bukele) is surprising to you, you probably have not read David Golumbia’s prescient “The Politics of Bitcoin: Software as Right-Wing Extremism”. Suffice it to say that there’s nothing surprising about this seeming contradiction.

The story starts a few years ago when Bukele declared bitcoin to be legal tender in El Salvador[4].

Wraparound glasses are a must for fashie season.

Bukele promptly began using El Salvador’s reservoir of taxpayer money to buy bitcoin on the open market, frequently tweeting about his purchases on The Privatized Public Square[5]. Appreciative crypto bros set up a website nayibtracker.com where you can track the man’s purchases.

Some of this newly purchased bitcoin was redistributed back to the Salvadoran citizens (the same citizens whose tax dollars had paid for it) for use in day to day transactions via something called Chivo Wallet, an event which caused crypto bros all over the world to literally cream their pants. Here, finally, was The Use Case For Crypto. The long thirteen year wait was over and the global decentralized financial future had arrived to empower the world’s poor and disenfranchised - hallelujah!

Unfortunately, however, no one ever bothered to ask the citizens of El Salvador whether they wanted to use bitcoin and - surprise! - it turns out they don’t give a fuck about bitcoin and don’t want to use it. Chivo Wallet turned out to be a total fiasco, just like every other arrival of The Use Case For Crypto before it. Numerous hilarious videos of disappointed crypto bros attempting to buy stuff with bitcoin in El Salvador only to be told the store would only accept demonic “real” money like US dollars, British pounds, and euros were posted to The Social Media Wastes, and there was much rejoicing.

Anyways this state of affairs continued until a few months ago when the International Monetary Fund (IMF) told Bukele to cut that shit out immediately, in response to which Bukele told the IMF they could fuck right off with their globalist bullshit (there are no good guys here), which is more or less also what Bukele said upon learning that an American court had declared disappearing people into Salvadoran mega prisons without due process to be wildly illegal a few days ago.

At least we can be thankful that the 21st century’s fascists are turning out to have way more of a sense of humour than the 20th century’s fascists.

THE TETHERER’S APPRENTICE

The Bukele crypto story doesn’t end with Chivo Wallet. Far from it - Chivo Wallet was just the beginning of the man’s crypto journey. Because it turns out the most important company in crypto also has deep ties to El Salvador.

Tether CFO Giancarlo Devasini and now CEO Paolo Ardoino pictured with Nayib Bukele.

I wrote a lot about Tether here and you should read it because I won’t be going into the details, but the important part is that Tether, a company “practically quilted out of red flags” (to quote Bloomberg) that facilitates fraud and money laundering on a scale heretofore unimaginable in human history, has[6] its money managed by[7] a man who recently became America’s Secretary of Commerce: Howard Lutnick, AKA “Wall Street’s top used burning car salesman”.

To say Tether is now deeply intertwined with the American government would probably be an understatement.

So what’s Tether got to do with El Salvador? Turns out a whole lot. Start with the fact that Bitfinex, Tether’s sister company[8], became integrated into the Salvadoran financial system a few years ago as a marketplace for “tokenized securities”[9]. This took place after Moody’s and other American rating agencies downgraded the central bank of El Salvador’s credit score due to the “complex operating environment for banks” under crypto fascism.

What I will not be going into detail about is the fact around the same time Bitfinex Securities launched in El Salvador the company also started offering similar financial services in Kazakhstan. The two countries have an “understanding” about financial services, which is something you should regard as somewhere between “highly suspicious” and “obviously for crime”.

Then in August 2023 Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino[10] announced that Tether was launching a large scale bitcoin mining operation in El Salvador. As proof of that enterprise he posted an obviously photoshopped image of shipping containers with the Tether logo on them, claiming the bitcoin transaction processors (“mining rigs”, in the parlance of the bros) were humming away processing bitcoin transactions (“mining”) inside the containers. Journalists who attempted to visit the site were told to STFU and sent away having never seen a single mining rig.

What’s a little ELA between friends of the bitcoin führer?

Just so you can see it for yourself here’s a zoomed in version:

Tether claims to be more profitable than Goldman Sachs and Blackrock. You’d think they could photoshop a bit better.

Not long afterwards in June of 2024 Tether registered a company called “Tether Operations Limited” in the country, and shortly after that, on the very eve of the Trump inauguration in January of this year, Tether announced it was relocating its headquarters to El Salvador.

I’m sure all of this is just a coincidence and the fact that Donald Trump is sending people he doesn’t like to die in foreign mega prisons funded in part by some of the dodgiest people in the crypto industry in no way implies that the world is currently sliding into the abyss of fascism facilitated by backroom deals between crypto bros, central American military juntas, and the American government.

MORE IS MORE

There’s a lot more I could say about Bukele’s corruption - things like his plan to build a geothermally powered bitcoin shaped city on the side of a volcano, the failed “volcano bond” issuance that attempted to raise money for that bitcoin shaped city, various conflagarations and call outs from the International Monetary Fund, etc. - but instead I will just direct you a thread I compiled with some information about Tether and Bitfinex’s goings on about San Salvador.

If you’re still thirsty after that or interested in Bukele’s corruption outside of the crypto realm I can offer a link to El Faro, a Salvadoran newspaper that publishes a lot of English language content. The fact that El Faro, along with a lot of its reporters, was driven into exile in Costa Rica after reporting critically on “the world’s coolest dictator” should give you some sense of what you will find.

NOTES

[1]
Maybe. We don’t actually know how many people yet because there was no due process and the Trump administration has declared the information top secret because of “national security”.
[2] Just like we were not at all surprised when a bunch of Silicon Valley billionaires threw in for Trump in an attempt to get out from under various criminal and civil charges.
[3] The original “dreamers”, I guess.
[4] Along with the US dollar, which is confusingly also the official currency of El Salvador.
[5] An app called “X”, FKA “Twitter”.
[6] Technical “had”, past tense, because Howard Lutnick is no longer the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. Now Cantor Fitzgerald is run by… two of Howard Lutnick’s twenty something year old sons (lol).
[7] Tether is also reportedly partially owned by Lutnick though details are sketchy. In his congressional confirmation hearing Lutnick would only admit that his firm Cantor Fitzgerald “has a convertible bond” with Tether.
[8] Tether is a stablecoin; Bitfinex is a cryptocurrency money laundering service exchange where you can buy and sell crypto.
[9] So far most of the capital raises for things like hotels that were launched through Bitfinex Securities turned out to be duds, but they’re not tired of trying yet.
[10] A man who avoided setting foot in the United States for many years, commonly assumed to be because he feared arrest, but was recently spotted posting selfies from Washington D.C.
