You'll have seen this graph by now. It's being feverishly shared all over social media, along with images from Ireland, where parts of Dublin are burning after a "migrant" stabbed some people.
The graph is yet more proof that the Tories have "betrayed" the British people on immigration. Since 1992 all incoming governments have been elected on the promise of reducing immigration. None of them have delivered.
But a lot of people will simply misunderstand the graph. All it shows is who comes to live in Britain over who leaves Britain to live elsewhere. That's why it sometimes went into negative territory, the last time in 1992.
In fact, it is even theoretically possible for the figure to be made up entirely of British people deciding to come back to live in Britain. So, yes, the devil is in the detail, so lets provide some of that detail from the Office of National Statistics:
"The provisional estimate of total long-term immigration for year ending (YE) June 2023 was 1.2 million, while emigration was 508,000, meaning that net migration was 672,000...
That 672,000 is the number you see at the end of the graph above. The higher figure just before it is actually a non-comparable "estimate" for this year ending December 2022. It shouldn't really be on the same graph.

However, it is more interesting to look at -- and break down -- the latest immigration and emigration figures separately.
In the year ending June 2023, 1.2 million came in. This is made up of:
• 968,000 (81%) non-EU nationals (mainly non-White but also some White)
• 129,000 (11%) EU-nationals (mainly White people but also some non-White)
• 84,000 (7%) British (mainly White people but also some non-White)
Then there is the rather considerable number of people leaving the UK in the same period:
• 200,000 (39%) non-EU national
• 215,000 (42%) EU nationals
• 93,000 (18%) British nationals
Then, putting them together we get the following net figures
• Mainly non-White +768,000
• Mainly White -95,000
Which then gives us a final net figure of the UK becoming 863,000 less "mainly White" due to immigration in one year.
The usual idiots on the internet, desperate for Russian bot traffic and retweets, are saying this is part of "The Great Replacement" conspiracy theory:
It really isn't. It's due to British people sitting on their arses on welfare, having fewer kids, and still expecting the NHS to wipe their arses in their old age. Needless to say, they would also crucify any government that oversaw any dip in GDP that would be caused by actually delivering on anti-immigration promises.
The dissident right today, however, is totally incapable of any serious kind of analysis of areas like this. All it craves is the instant crack-cocaine-like hit of cheap victimization and paranoia.

ReplyDeleteFirstly, whites and Indians have the lowest rates of unemployment of all ethnic groups represented in the ONS stats, so if anything we’re bringing in immigrants to do the jobs immigrants won’t do.
Secondly, most immigrants pay less tax than natives and therefore are a net drain to the system. We don’t need the current numbers to bring in the fabled ‘Doctors and Engineers’.

The specific employment rates of various ethnicities is insignificant as the UK government does not discriminate based on that. The fact is there are millions of "Brits" (indigenous or otherwise) who don't work and can get away with it due to welfarism, something that the large majority of Brits (indigenous or otherwise) support. The NHS is bringing in droves of "medical workers" from the cheapest places they can hire them, which usually means Africa with little concern over whether they will go back after their contracts are up. Again the NHS gets blanket support from the masses for whatever it does.

Dude, that's one of the crappiest straw men I've seen in a long time. My point should be obvious even to someone in a clearly emotional state like you. Britain is dying/ changing due to the British people losing a culture war with itself by embracing left-wing values of welfarism, tolerance, and selfish individualism. The dissident right fails because it fails to analyse anything and anything it does "analyse" it analyses wrongly.

DeleteMy point was that the economic argument for mass immigration is poor so while it can be cited as a reason for pursuing mass immigration it is a poor justification. Your implication is that elites pursued these policies to give voters what they wanted - I suppose in some sense that is correct but it’s also very stupid. While immigrants do fill gaps in the labour market they also create demand for goods (generally OK but see recent inflation) and essential services (generally bad). Every nurse we bring in needs a house to live in. Every construction worker we bring in to build the house needs doctors and nurses if they fall I’ll or have an accident. Immigration fuels the need for more immigration. It would be much easier for us to manage this trade off with a controlled immigration policy.
But in truth the reasons are mostly cultural. Those in our elite class are either sleepwalking or sincerely believe we’re moving towards a post racial utopia. And the latter necessitates ‘white genocide’ - perhaps an unhelpful term but it simply means the denial that there is a historical ethnocultural group with any special claim to the country. After all, “Black Britons were here from the start”. Is it ‘genocide’? Maybe not but there is certainly intent.
Only a tiny fraction of my writing refers to the intellectually challenged and foreign shills, who are nevertheless a significant and toxifying presence in the dissident sphere that should occasionally be commented on.

You main error, however, is to place too much agency in the hands of our so-called elites, a common failing on the dissident right, as the main function of our present inferior elites is simply to give form to the formless desires and incoherent urges of the populous, whether it is good for them or not. Usually the latter.
That might be true of the Tory party but is it true of the left liberal wing of the elites? Was it true of Roy Jenkins, the BBC or New Labour?
