I appreciate your sensible pushback against the dissident right's increasingly deranged support for the Russian government and its war of conquest in Ukraine.
I was very disappointed to read this post by a formerly great thinker who served as a beacon of truth and clarity for me during the dark days of 2020-21: http://charltonteaching.blogspot.com/2022/10/demonic-spite-and-resentment-on-cusp-of.html
Particularly offensive and delusional is this paragraph ("the Fire Nation" refers to Russia, because the author insists on using "coded" terminology for basic things like the names of countries):
"The very fact that the Fire Nation has brought even a glimmer of hope to a world that - just two and a bit years ago - seemed to be caught inescapably in the grip of a unitary global totalitarianism that explicitly desired the full impoverishment, omni-surveillance and micro-control of nearly-all the population; is what fuels this spiteful destructiveness."
I didn't bother to comment since the author refuses to argue, forbids discussion of "topical" issues on his blog and censors anyone who tries, but I posted this response on the bird app:
"The more I think about this post, the more it p***es me off. That 'glimmer of hope' came from millions of Western people reading, thinking for themselves, and rejecting the hell-world offered by their elites. Not from a f***ing land grab in Eastern Europe."
All Comments MUST include a name (either real or sock). Also don't give us an easy excuse to ignore your brilliant comment by using "shitposty" language.
